Mr. Cristopher Plummer talked about this film in an article "Plummer's prescription" on "The Globe and Mail". I tried to put the link but it didn't work (the link just brings you to the regstration page), but Mr Plummer said,

Thanks for letting us know!
This one sounds like it has the potential for a wide release too with so many well known actors.
I'm wondering if the movie 'Toi' with Anne-Marie Cadieux is still on the table?

Well, it looks like Roy will be busy as usual! Sounds like we may be going back to the younger looking Roy for this movie if he's to be playing Susan Sarandon's son.

Yeah! More Roy and filming in Quebec. I can only hope some of it will be in Montreal. The city lost alot of film work over the last few years and it would be great to see more work for the Quebec Industry.
I guess we don't have to worry about funding and distribution for this movie. Wow, Susan Sarandon - my fave actress playing Roy's mom...this could be interesting.

Wow, that Playback magazine article is from 1996? Ten years in the making.
A few paragraphs below the mention of Emotional Arithmetic is a reference to The Hanging Garden:
I've actually seen that movie on late-night Canadian TV! The lead character imagines that he hung himself from a backyard tree in his adolescence, frustrated by his homosexuality and the callous lack of understanding from his family. Throughout the rest of the movie he (as an adult) and the audience see his dead teenage body hanging there every time the scene shows the yard. Yet no one else can see it though as they go about their business. Hence, the "hanging garden." Of course, that's only one part of the movie.
Canadian films are so interesting, don't you find?

First draft in 1996 - and I thought my prjects at work took a long time! Looks like first director Jane Thompson moved on though - to be replaced by Paulo Barzman (Relic Hunter, Largo Winch)

So - Roy the son of Christopher Plummer & Susan Sarandon!! He IS moving in the big league!

It just makes me want to sing with happiness.

It will be interesting to see how big Roy's role is. I hope Susan and Christopher are ready to be amazed by what we have known for many years.

Susan, when I had the chance to talk to Roy at the MIRA Meet and Greet last year, one of the things I asked him was how, since he gets so completely into the "skin" of his characters, he managed to shift characters from film to film, and if he ever suffered from adrenalin withdrawal after a film is done. He told me that it was easier for him if he had another film to go to right away. He also said that sometimes he almost welcomed the mild depression when a very intense film was over. Since "Shake Hands With The Devil" was definitly an intense film, he may be very glad to have this one to go to right away.
I'm going to have to think about this new film though....Roy the son of Christopher Plummer and Susan Sarandon? And bitter about it? Definitely a different thing for him.
And sometimes those dreams come true!
