It is a short film festival. The schedule has Francis Leclerc's "Film improvisé" on the 10th. I haven't navigated around the website enough to discover what Roy is doing there or when, but there is a festival Hockey game on Saturday

In 1992, Francis Leclerc directed his first short film, Brad Bablax. Since then, he has directed, adapted and co-scripted nearly 30 films, which have received many awards. He is planning to shoot his next movie this coming summer, called: Un été, sans point, ni coup sûr, which will also be produced by Barbara Shrier. Barbara has more than 25 years of experience in the movie production business. She has acquired her experience by working with famous filmmakers such as: Louis Malle, Jean-Jacques Annaud and Alan Rudolph.
Note the name of that film, screenplay by Marc Robitaille, the author of the novel of the same name.
This is the baseball film we told Roy that Francis was making, and he just laughed as though it was totally unlikely. But I'd heard in an interview that Francis wanted to go off with Roy so that he could pick his brains about sport. Well, there you have it!

According to a friend in Jonquiere, he will be on Flash tonight with Francis Leclerc to talk about the short film that will be shown at the festival tomorrow. A little heads up for our friends in that area!
Thanks Trisha for that heads up on that original link to the website!!

Yes, it certainly does! Well, all the fashionistas say that's the way to go...in the winter, at least. And not only the yellow t-shirt looks new, but the first layer on top of it doesn't look familiar, either. Hmmmm.....could he have gone shopping?
And not only does the beard look trimmed, Karen, but dsoesn't his hair look shorter, too?
Good Heavens! Our boy must either be in love, or have another film starting soon.
And that film would be................? He does look happy!
And sometimes those dreams come true!
Les yeux! Toujours les yeux!

The Quotidien article explains what it's all about. Francis Leclerc's Film improvisé - yes, an improvised film - is being shot during the festival on Friday (possibly into the early hours) then it will be edited and ready for screening at 5pm Saturday.
The picture was taken in the bar La Voie Maltée in Jonquière on Thursday evening, where 200 members of the public determined the criteria that the improvisation had to comply with.
Roy will be in it, but his condition was that Francis was to be in it too. Several other actors will also be in the short film - Rosa Zacharie (Mémoires affectives) is mentioned. The public also voted for Jean Tremblay, the mayor of Saguenay where the festival is being held, to be an extra.
The other criteria include: a character dressed in 80's clothes; filming at Bagotville airport and a local cheese factory, Boivin de La Baie; a waterfall; a mass; a scooter; the phrase "What do you think, no teeth?".
A couple of other things I'm not sure about - something about rural crafts I think, and the sound of something that makes a twittering noise ... one of these bird mimicking things? I can't think of an English word for it. Or it may be a kazoo.
Francis is delighted with these constraints, particularly the airport. As for appearing in front of the camera, he says that Roy has wanted him to do it for a long time, so he's doing it for him.
Finally, Roy's thoughts on the 'short' as a medium.
It's a format that he's more familiar with as a spectator than as an actor, having only done one, a long time ago. (That will be Anémique cinéma). He thinks it's important, and when he goes to festivals that's what he goes to watch. But that's the only time you can see them, which he thinks is a pity. He would like to see them shown in the theatres, before the main feature.

I agree MaryM - he's definitely moving out of 'mountain man mode' & maybe into 'award show' mode!
Thanks for the clarification of that article Viv! Looks like they they must have fun with that one!

Steiny, I agree. It would be so much fun to see the result. Sounds like they are going to have fun filming it.
Thanks for the articles and pics.

The festival has a tradition of inviting a guest director to improvise a short. Previous 'victims' were:
2006 : Simon-Olivier Fecteau
2005 : Maxime Giroux
2004 : Christian Laurence
2003 : Robin Aubert
2002 : Yves Christian Fournier
2001 : Louise Archambault
2000 : Jean-François Rivard
The film will last for 10 minutes. There will be a free open-air screening in Chicoutimi at 5pm Saturday (brrr). Later on Francis and the whole crew will present it in the Auditorium Dufour, Chicoutimi, in the session that starts at 9:30pm. As well as Roy (and Francis and of course the mayor) it will feature Rosa Zacharie, the festival spokesperson Sylvain Marcel, and a couple of local actresses Mélanie Potvin and Véronique Bouchard.
Other activities during the festival include a day trip "to discover the joys of winter in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean", the Saturday afternoon hockey match already referred to, and after all the screenings a cabaret for the night owls.
Sounds like a lot of fun!

This sounds such fun to do. It's great that they have FL acting in it too, maybe RD will do the direction for his part?
It's fun to put the idea of having certain events, people and places. That makes it more interesting, still.
I heard a similar idea on the radio yesterday, but it was about writing a musical for the stage. The invitees actually performed a minute musical on the radio programme, written and performed from start to finish. I didn't hear all of the info on it so I don't if they had any constraints. It Reminded me also of the National Theatre of Brent who do Shakespeare plays in 10 minutes.
It's a busy few days for RD, Saguenay at the weekend and in Toronto by Tuesday! The man must have a lot of energy!!!
