YES. that is the only French sentence I do know (as written above), so I guess every English person knows it too. blush.gif It's a good thing to know what not to say to Roy, if I see him next year.....

Well, I know another French phrase was used in the privacy of our party room....where it stayed. Term of endearment.....and I just thought Les loved cabbage! ohmy.gif wink.gif tongue.gif

Thanks, Mary. smile.gif

I didn't reveal my french phrase in my "official report' because I thought that many people would not understand why I wanted to say that to Roy. Since it has been revealed, let me explain that I am not obsessed with veggies-

I asked my daughter who takes french to teach me something to say to Roy and she taught me that expression and dared me to say it (never thinking I would). I thought it was really cute and would be something no one had ever said to him before... and I was right! laugh.gif heart.gif

My kids really got a big laugh when I told them about it. Of course, they laugh at me all the time since I am so "silly!"

And, finally, I did not say "I love you..." - I said, "I adore you..." or at least that is what I tried to say. blush.gif

I am happy to provide amusement for others and thrilled to have gotten a chuckle out of Roy. wub.gif

Les, your particular experience brought back memories, because I did the same thing. blush.gif
I got to speak with Roy at the Seraphin premiere & told him I just wanted to say something in French to him.
Well, don't know how I mustered enough courage, but here's what I said:
Je ne comprends pas le francais tres bien, mais je comprends tres bien les mots qui vos yeux parlent. (I don't understand French very well, but I understand very well the words that your eyes speak.)
Maybe the 'qui' should have been 'que' , but at that stage I thought I did pretty well. wacko.gif I guess he thought so too because he said I did a great job! wub.gif

So, Les, I'm glad to see that I'm not alone in being "silly"! laugh.gif
It takes a while, but my kids are beginning to come around & actually starting to 'get it'!
